Statements of Faith

of members of the 2008 Confirmation Class

of the United Methodist Church of Vista

These are gathered from the individual creeds written by the members of the class.

     I believe in God

The Creator, who is great, who is p

owerful, who loves everyone, and who wrote the 10 commandments. I have the same heart as God and Jesus, they give me strength.

     I believe in the Father

The maker of heaven and earth, who art in heaven, who takes care of things, who teaches me things. He is awesome, He made all creation, He made us in His image. He has a good sense of style, makes good people, makes everyone special, and made a heaven of afterlife. He is the Father of life and new beginnings

      I believe in the Son

Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, Light from light, our example, our Savior, our Guide, our Lord, our brother; He is the Son of the Virgin Mary, who was crucified, died,  and rose again on the third day. He willingly died on the cross for me, to forgive my sins, and is my one and only Savior. He is held dear to my heart.

I believe in the Holy Spirit

A piece of God in every one of us, who is everywhere, helping all. Who came to us at Pentecost, is the wind, the healer of wrong; who directs me when I am troubled and takes me to God. The Spirit is part of God (says Rick), and is the flame on the United Methodist Cross.

I believe that the Bible is

The Word of God, written by people, to be used for good not wrong. It is educating, sharing God’s thoughts, telling me about Jesus and other people of that time, a good read, the thing that tells us what to do, basic rules, the history of God’s world, a guide to living your life, God’s way of talking to humanity, and my holy tool.

I believe that the church is

the place of worship, the beholder of teachers and friends, the place I go to be in God’s house and to be with the people I love. It is beneficial. It is in the middle of a buy world, serving God by teaching us to serve others. It is a holy place to worship God, a place where you shouldn’t curse, a place to make friends, a place to praise, a place where people understand me, a place for fun, a place to talk about your beliefs, a place to pray, a place for youth group.

I believe that Christians should show their faith by

serving God and Jesus to the best of our ability: in actions, prayer, attending church, praise, being a good Christian, having a good life, not cursing, learning more about God, following God’s path to holiness,  going in the direction of the Lord, and leading one another to the hands of God.

     I believe that salvation is

forgiveness of your sins, leading to eternal life, humility, and heaven. It is cool, beautiful, everything, and worth the wait. It is like a firefighter saving me from a burning building and taking me home to a safe place.

     I believe

in God, Jesus, Noah’s ark, eternal life, the Bible; that God and Jesus help us build a better world. I believe that all dogs go to heaven, all zebras are black with white stripes, Disneyland is awesome, and that Jesus Rocks! I believe that  I am loved by the Lord and that he is there for me at good times and bad, and that he is the one I look up to and say, “Thank you, Lord, for life and thank you for inviting me into this wonderful earth you created.”

I believe that my hand is tired; and that

I am done!
