Prayer is a phenomenon that seems to bring forth miracles with added strength, perseverance, hope, faith. Prayer does not need to be a formal, well thought out performance at a specific time or place. Instead, an informal, short chat may be more fulfilling. God, Jesus Christ, The Holy Spirit or (one that is deceased) can bring the comfort that our hearts seek.

When requesting prayers please let us know if we can include you in our prayer chain (personally or anonymously) or if you would like Rev. George Hooper to keep your joys & concerns confidential.  Contact the church office: e-mail or (760) 726-0442 or       Rev. George Hooper

Ruby McCormick.  She is at Tri-City Hospital.  She called me and was in good spirits.  She went to the Dr.'s yesterday to get an MRI on her leg (she's been in a lot of pain).   To  make a long story short:  She has a torn muscle in her leg and is having therapy.

Please let us in on your Joys & Concerns so,

Twitter prayer updates: http://twitter.com/UMCVPrayer

Prayer Tweet: We believe that God hears prayer. We are a community of prayer. As a congregation, we share the burdens and needs of each other, not as a form of gossip, but rather as a means of acting for the good of each other. All who pray are part of the healing community. When you are in need of the prayers of your sisters and brothers in Christ, please contact the church office in person or by phone, 726-0442, or email <umcvista@umcvista.org> or <pastorgeorge@umcvista.org>. In addition to our ongoing prayer chains and teams, we are pleased to introduce a new way of building our community of prayer: The "Prayer Tweet." "Twitter" is an online service which allows individuals to share short (140 character maximum) messages. These messages are referred to as "tweets". It is free, but you do have to register. You may choose to have the message sent to your cell phone or other messaging device (though this might incur a cell-phone provider charge). You may choose to receive email updates. Or you may choose to check the web page for updates. We will soon begin sending urgent prayer requests though this system, in addition to all of the current methods. If you are a member or friend of the congregation, and you are interested in being a part of the prayer ministry of the congregation, please go to Twitter.com. If you are not already registered with Twitter, create an account. When you have an account, sign in and go to <Twitter.com/UMCVprayer>. There, you may register to receive short prayer requests—"prayer tweets".

“How to Pray”, Sunday, September 20, 12:00-1:00 pm—Do you need to speak out loud, or is an unspoken prayer loud enough? Are there certain phrases or words that always need to be used in a prayer? Do you sometimes have trouble putting into words what you are feeling in your heart? Come to our new class on ―How to Pray‖ and learn how to express yourself to God the way you want to. Call the church office at 726-0442 to sign up.
