Seminar on Grief and Healing:

The church is offering an 8-week Seminar on Grief and Healing on Thursday evenings (started April 4th) at 7 pm in room 212. The purpose of the seminar is to help those experiencing the loss through death of a loved one in their lives. It could be a family member, other relative, or friend. It does not matter how long it has been since the loss occurred, as grief over a loved one comes and goes. This seminar will offer an opportunity for growth and healing with a spiritual emphasis. Any questions, please call the church office or Kathy Johnson.

A NEW ADULT SUNDAY NOON GATHERING

Sunday, April 14, 2013 at 12:00 p.m.

We will begin an 8 week study based on Maxie Dunnam’s “The Workbook on ABIDING IN CHRIST: The Way of Living Prayer”. This will be a spiritual journey we take together using daily prayer instruction, bible study and weekly workbook guidelines. Dr. Dunnam served as an editor for the Upper Room for 10 years, and is now the Chancellor at Asbury Theological Seminary. He has written several thought-provoking books, some of which we hope to use in this new gathering. Each of his workbooks is a progressive lesson that takes anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks to complete. The books cost less than $10 apiece and there is financial assistance for those on a tight budget. Participants are encouraged to bring their lunch or a snack with them to enjoy during our time together.

This gathering is a great opportunity for those unavailable for a longer time commitment and whose workweek doesn’t leave much room for bible study. We figure that if you’re at church Sunday morning, sticking around for a lunchtime gathering might be appealing! If you want to participate in the first 8 week study and then move on, that will be fine. We do hope that folks will want to continue to move through new and different short studies together, one after another. New members will be invited to join as we start each new book. Peggy Watson and John Haase will co-facilitate the Gathering and welcome your questions. We will be ordering the Abiding in Christ workbook soon, so let Peggy or John know if you are interested.

"Abiding in Christ" will begin Sunday April 21st (moved from April 14th). We will be using the Maxie Dunnam workbook as we make a spiritual journey through Bible study and thoughtful discussion. Since we will be meeting from 12:00 – 1:30 pm, bring your lunch or a snack to enjoy during the Gathering. Please do let Peggy Watson know soon if you will be joining the five folks already signed up; we want to make sure we have enough workbooks ordered. Questions? Peggy Watson, 760-727-9317.
