“15th Sunday after Pentecost”
8:45 am
“We are called to be an authentic and accessible community of God’s love.”
We welcome you to the celebration of good news and the fellowship of this
congregation.
We hope that you will be both comforted and challenged by the Word of God
for us today.
If you are worshipping here for the first time, we hope you will consider
making this your church home.
We welcome the diversity of all God’s children.
SILENT
MEDITATION
What is important is that one is capable of love. It is perhaps the only glimpse we are permitted of eternity. -Helen Hayes

PRAISE!
“He
Arose”
(Chorus)
I believe in the resurrection of God’s Son! In the resurrection of
God’s Son.
I can
feel the earth still shaking, ev’ry morning I awaken to the resurrection of
God’s Son.
Jesus is
our Savior, He arose! Wonderful
Creator, He arose!
There is
no one greater, He arose! He arose! He arose!
(Chorus)
Some of
them denied Him, He arose! Then they crucified Him, He arose!
But at
the tomb they couldn’t find Him, He arose! He arose! He arose!
(Chorus)
“Great
is the Lord” -FWS 2022
Great is the Lord, he is holy and just; by his power we trust in his love.
Great is the Lord, he is faithful and true; by his mercy he proves he is
love.
(1)
Great is the Lord and worthy of glory! Great is the Lord and worthy
of praise.
Great is the Lord; now lift up your voice, now lift up your voice: Great is
the Lord!
(2)
Great are you, Lord, and worthy of glory! Great are you, Lord, and
worthy of praise.
Great are you, Lord; I lift up my voice, I lift up my voice: Great are you,
Lord!

Let us praise and adore our living Lord.
O let the Son of God enfold you with his spirit and his love.
Let him fill your heart and satisfy your soul. O let him have the things
that hold you,
and his Spirit like a dove will descend upon your life and make you whole.
(Refrain)
(Refrain) Jesus, O Jesus, come
and fill your lambs. (sing twice)
O come and sing this song with gladness as your hearts are filled with joy.
Lift your hands in sweet surrender to his name. O give him all your tears
and sadness;
give him all your years of pain, and you’ll enter into life in Jesus’ name.
(Refrain)
“I Was
There to Hear Your Borning Cry”
-FWS 2051 (Stanzas 1-4)
I was there to hear your borning cry, I’ll be there when you are old.
I rejoiced the day you were baptized, to see your life unfold.
I was there when you were but a child, with a faith to suit you well;
in a blaze of light you wandered off to find where demons dwell.
When you heard the wonder of the Word I was there to cheer you on;
you were raised to praise the living Lord, to whom you now belong.
If you find someone to share your time and you join your hearts as one,
I’ll be there to make your verses rhyme from dusk till rising sun.
(Repeat Stanza 1)

SCRIPTURE LESSON
Romans 12:9-21
(NRSV)
-Michele
Lund
Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; love one
another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor. Do not
lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be
patient in suffering, persevere in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the
saints; extend hospitality to strangers. Bless those who persecute you;
bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those
who weep. Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate
with the lowly; do not claim to be wiser than you are. Do not repay anyone
evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all. If it
is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved,
never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God; for it is
written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” No, “if your
enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them something to
drink; for by doing this you will heap burning coals on their heads.” Do not
be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

“Holy
and Anointed One”
Jesus,
Jesus, Holy and Anointed One (Risen and Exalted One), Jesus.
Jesus.
Your
name is like honey on my lips.
Your spirit like water to my soul.
Your
word is a lamp unto my feet.
Jesus I love You, I love You.
Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
Thy kingdom come, thy will be
done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily
bread; and forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive those who
trespass against us.
And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil,
For thine is the kingdom, and
the power and the glory forever. Amen.
