“17th Sunday after Pentecost”
8:45 am
“We are called to be an authentic
and accessible community of God’s love.”
We welcome you to
the celebration of good news and the fellowship of this congregation.
We hope that you
will be both comforted and challenged by the Word of God for us today.
If you are
worshipping here for the first time, we hope you will consider making this
your church home.
SILENT MEDITATION
Christians are called to be witnesses, not judges, not prosecutors nor defense lawyers. Just faithful, truthful witnesses. –Unknown
(Please
complete the registration card found in the bulletin and place in the
offering.
Prayers and comments may be written on
the back of the card.)
“I
Will Delight (in the Law of the Lord)”
I will
delight in the law of the Lord, I will meditate day and night.
Then,
like a tree firmly planted, I’ll be grounded in Your Word.
Blessed
is the one who follows the way of the Lord; blessed is the one.
(sing twice)
“Our
God Is Faithful”
Our God
is faithful and able to keep us holy, to walk us fully into the land;
He is a
mighty warrior who rules in mercy, His name is worthy of all of our praise.
The earth
is the Lord’s and everything that’s in it; His Kingdom of love be decreed.
Let all
of creation rise up and adore Him, and say with a shout, “We’re redeemed!”
*CALL TO WORSHIP
(based on 1 John 4:7, 16b)
Leader: Beloved, let us
love one another,
People: because love is from God.
Leader: Whoever does not love
does not know God.
People: for God is love.
Leader:
God is love and those who abide in love abide in God,
People: and God abides in them.
“How
Excellent Your Name”
O Lord,
our Lord, how excellent Your name is,
how
excellent Your name in all the earth,
Your
glory fills the heavens beyond the farthest star,
how
excellent Your name in all the earth.
When I
think about the heavens, the moon and all the stars,
I wonder
what You ever saw in me, but You took me and You loved me
and You’ve
given me a crown, and now I’ll praise Your name eternally.

Matthew 18:15-20
(The Message)
-Debbie
Edwards
“If a fellow believer hurts you, go and tell him—work it out between the two
of you. If he listens, you’ve made a friend. If he won’t listen, take one or
two others along so that the presence of witnesses will keep things honest,
and try again. If he still won’t listen, tell the church. If he won’t listen
to the church, you’ll have to start over from scratch, confront him with the
need for repentance, and offer again God’s forgiving love. Take this most
seriously: A yes on earth is yes in heaven; a no on earth is no in heaven.
What you say to one another is eternal. I mean this. When two of you get
together on anything at all on earth and make a prayer of it, my Father in
heaven goes into action. And when two or three of you are together because
of me, you can be sure that I’ll be there.”
