Our Mission

To commit ourselves individually and as a community to foster discipleship in Jesus Christ.

Our Vision

To be an open, loving Christian community. Empowered by God’s transforming love, we seek to respond by reaching out to the needs of the world.

A Challenge from Finance Committee

Seven Sundays remain in the “Benevolence Sharing Months” campaign.  Your extra gift may be placed in an envelope marked “Our Share” or “Benevolences”.  These contributions will be used to meet our $32,000 apportionment goal.  Your support and commitment to continue God’s work in the world is needed.

My Church

Have you seen the beautiful new publication which features pages of color pictures of our church activities?  It’s available today in the Narthex.  Be sure to take a look today before you leave.

Pastor George and the Membership/Congregational Care Committee will lead these sessions and refreshments will be served.  Please check “wish to join” on your Sunday registration card if you plan to attend. Please notify us if you plan to bring your children so that we can plan activities for them. Items covered in the class will be God, Christianity, spirituality, Methodist history and beliefs, baptism, and prayer. Local church history, activities, mission, leadership and where you can fit in will be addressed. If you have any questions about any of these subjects feel free to ask Pastor George and Sue Goode about them.

All Small Group Alum,  on  August 24, are invited to a celebration of the first series of small groups that began in Nov., 2007.  The celebration will follow second service and a grilled lunch will be provided.

OUTREACH MINISTRIES

Missions, Church and Society, Evangelism

Coordinator:  Jacque Howard

Reach out to Michaelle House—Reaching out and assisting the poor and sick is the purpose of our August outreach program. We are requesting items that will be donated to Michaelle House in N.E. Vista. The home is one of two residential care houses operated by Fraternity House Inc. for those of limited means living with HIV/AIDS. Items needed include the wide range of household paper goods (paper towels, plates and napkins, toilet paper, facial tissues, etc.); canned food stuffs; clothing for men and women; etc. Also needed are dedicated individuals to serve as volunteers in a number of capacities.  In early August, a bin and sign will be set in the narthex as a collection  point for items and information. The month-long effort is being organized by the church’s What Would Jesus Do group. WWJD hopes to deliver the items to the facility on behalf of the congregation the last week of August.

 AROUND THE DISTRICT

This Sunday, August 17, First United Methodist Church of Escondido will host a dessert for Rev.
