Neighborhood House of Calexico
Early Literacy Family First Project

Early Literacy Family First Project was developed by Neighborhood House to be used with the families of their preschool program. It is a series of four meetings with parents of a child enrolled in the program to introduce them to tools and types of at-home family involvement that will encourage skills needed for the child to be successful in school. At the fourth meeting the parents are given crayons, paper, etc. and a book to be taken home to be used to help their child. The program is being expanded into the community to include children who are not enrolled in the NHC preschool but are referred through other sources.

Books are needed for the new enrollees, plus one book per child is minimal. Through your gifts, additional books from a recommended reading list will be given when the parents complete the program…..more
